Outline for a research paper


Working Outline
An outline is a writing plan that shows the main points that will be included in your completed paper. A good outline also shows the sequence in which the main points will be discussed and their relationship to one another. The working outline will help you write a first draft.

Place the topic at the top of the outline.

I – A thesis statement for each paragraph that begins with a Roman numeral. A thesis statement  for each main idea.(I, II, III, IV).
            A. List supporting details under each main idea. Capital letters are used (A, B )
                                    1. Details are listed under subordinate ideas. For each of these use an Arabic numeral such as 1, 2, 3, etc. Begin each entry with a capital letter.

What makes France so prone to good food?
I – France is a bountiful agricultural country.
A.     France produces a lot of our food.
1.     France exports the second highest amount of agricultural produces worldwide.
2.     60% of its territory is used for agriculture, and 75% is used for crops. In comparison, only 24% of England agricultural land is used for crops
3.     France agricultural land represents 34% of the total agricultural land of the entire European Union.
B.     The diversity of food grown in France.
1.     France is the only country in Europe that produces nearly all types of food crops.
2.     France is the only country in Europe that is totally independent from any other country in terms of food production.

II – France, a country with a strong sense of regional identity and history of immigration proudly promotes its diversity through food.

III – The French government is very involved to promote food that is healthy and of a dependable quality .
